It’s finally Friday, which means the week is almost over. And you know what? I’m kind of glad that I can leave those last couple of days behind. It just wasn’t a good week for me. Not only because of my injured ankle, but also because of my ‘somehow’ bad mood. You see the correlation? Anyway, I’m already looking forward to a fresh start on Monday. But before it’s time for that, I want to share this week’s favourites with you. Fortunately, there were also some positive elements after all.
Favourite View – Urban Auckland
Some parts of Auckland have an edgy urban side. You have to find them, though. When strolling through the streets of the CBD, you might discover some corners where you could imagine yourself being in New York City. I like these urban parts of Auckland and I can really see the beauty in it. I can’t wait to discover more!
Favourite Game – All Blacks vs. Wales
This was probably the best night out. I haven’t revealed anything about the game yet, but the fact that it’s listed in another Friday Favourite, says it all. What an event and what a great atmosphere. I just loved it! Together with one of my flatties and her friends, we started the game night off at a bar in Kingsland, near Eden Park. Of course, the streets and bars were already fully packed with All Black supporters, with here and there a few lost Welsh. Everyone was having a drink and snack before heading to the stadium. We did the same, whilst getting more and more excited about the upcoming game. And an exciting game it was! With Wales ahead of the All Blacks in the first part of the game – and somehow sitting right in the middle of the noisiest Welsh corner of the whole stadium – the All Blacks fortunately regained their strength and defeated Wales with 39-21 in the end. I didn’t expect any different, but it first didn’t look like that. Definitely not a boring game and before I knew it was already over again. It could have lasted a bit longer if you ask me, but for the sake of my voice it was just the right timing. Tomorrow they will have another test in Wellington, let’s see how that will go. I’m already curious about the outcome.
Favourite Event – Britomart’s Health Week
Seven days of free workouts, seminars, cooking classes, discounts at healthy eateries and much more; this is Britomart’s Health Week 2016. To be honest, I was mostly interested in the free workouts, but unfortunately I’ve solely managed to register for one of the events. The Lululemon Yoga session on Sunday, which I was looking forward to the most, was already fully booked within no time. Quite a bummer. I’m still on the waiting list, but I’m probably not the only one. For tomorrow, I signed up for another NTC class. However, with the current ankle situation, I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to participate. Anyway, I found it a great initiative of Britomart and I hope they’ll organise more events like this in the future.
Favourite Cheap Eatery – Better Burger
That a good burger doesn’t have to come expensive, reaffirms the simple concept of Better Burger. No extensive menu, just the right stuff when craving a burger, hand cut fries and a shake or soda. Their ingredients are organic and locally produced, but more importantly, they also taste good. You will find them located on several spots around the city – definitely worth a visit! Unfortunately, I can’t make you jealous with a juicy picture of the burger that I had this week, because it was already gone before I was even thinking of taking one. Enough reason to pay this burger joint another visit soon!
